This service allows Rwandans living abroad to apply for a national ID and acquire a National Population Registry (NPR) number in the process. A national ID is a document that officially identifies an adult as a citizen of Rwanda whereas an NPR number identifies any Rwandan in the NPR. After receiving the NPR number notification, the applicant pays for the service and is required to provide their biometric data at the designated Rwandan embassy. The applicant will receive a notification containing their national ID number and will receive the national ID card later. The service is provided by the National Identification Agency (NIDA).
